Buyer / Planner – Antrim - £27k

Vickerstock have been appointed by our client who are a specialist design and manufacturer of environmentally friendly innovative solutions into the polymers industry who have grown to be a supplier of choice with a global reach over the last few decades.

Buyer / Planner: Duties

    Direct procurement of raw materials and parts for the production / manufacturing process
    Supplier relationships / supplier development / supplier appraisals / Vendor Rating
    Production Scheduling to fully utilise available resources (equipment, labour, materials, energy) with minimal waste (lean)
    Material Planning to ensure no shortages and optimise inventory as per financial KPI
    Issue Work Orders and update MRP system as required
    Create BOM structures and work flows on MRP
    In depth understanding of all product specifications and customer requirements
    Flag any shortfalls in production so as to ensure continuity of supply to customer base. Drive route cause investigation and implement corrective actions as necessary
    Develop, prepare or improves processes, procedures and instructions
    Identify cost reduction, quality and service improvement opportunities and provide suggestions for improvements
    Standardise and document processes for department
    Stock taking at month end
    Monitor and report on Production constraints

Buyer / Planner: Essential Criteria

    A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a high volume manufacturing environment
    MRP experience
    Highly skilled in use of Microsoft Excel
    Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
    Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities
    Excellent communication skills
    Analytical problem solving

Buyer / Planner: Desirable Criteria

    CIPS qualification
    Lean Production methodology implementation
    Experience of 123 Insight software or similar MRP systems
    Polymer purchasing experience within large scale manufacturing environments

Salary range: £22,000 - £27,000
