Our client are an industry leading firm who are at the top of their game and in the public eye for their expertise and success. They are seeking to appoint a Buyer on a full time permanent basis due to growth and expansion and continued investment.

Buyer; Reporting to:

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the supplier portfolio, making cost reductions, implementing processes to reduce lead times, increase efficiency and supplier quality. You will work closely with other departments on projects that are critical to the company and report directly into the Purchase Manager.

Buyer; Duties:

    Direct & indirect sourcing and procurement of raw materials, equipment, components and parts.
    Responsible for the purchasing and expediting of materials
    Visit and audit suppliers
    Maintain purchase management systems
    Manage supplier portfolio and development of new suppliers
    Negotiate supplier contracts and agreements
    Liaise with operational and engineering departments
    Ensure price, quality, lead times and traceability throughout the procurement process
    Develop secondary options as a fail safe
    Support the introduction of new materials, suppliers and components
    The management and rating of supplier performance – pricing, cost-saving achieved, quality of materials, SDP & efficiency of overall service
    Ensure that all requisitions and the issuing of Purchase orders as allocated to you are completed in a timely fashion as required by the demands of the individual project
    Identifying and implementing factors and methodologies to reduce spend/achieve cost savings
    Manage an annual spend budget

Buyer; Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
    Excellent planning and organisation skills
    Strong computer literacy including ERP/MRP/QMS systems
    Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Buyer; Essential Criteria:

    3 + years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or as a buyer within Engineering/ Manufacturing
    Experience in management of suppliers, supplier audit or vendor rating
    Knowledge and experience of making cost saving / cost reductions within spend portfolio
    Experience of introducing new suppliers

Buyer; Desirable:

    CIPS qualification
    Degree in engineering related discipline
    Experience of introducing new ERP system

Salary range: £25,000 - £30,000 (DOE)
